Insoluble in ether and chlorinated solvents, microsoluble in benzene, can be mixed with water, methanol, ethanol, acetic acid, acetone, dioxone, ethylene glycol, phenol and lower ester.
This product dissolves casein but does not dissolve albumin.
Also can dissolve casein protein, glucose, corn, gelatin, gelatin, resin, starch, lignin, cellulose acetate, nylon and some inorganic salt: copper, lead, zinc, tin, cobalt, iron, aluminum and nickel chloride, some sulfates, nitrates.
